Mr Bean is avegan, fairtrade and organicchocolate brand, that uses the finest cocoa from Peru and the Dominican Republic.
Their products are made in the chocolate capital of the world, Belgium and sold across the UK. Our task was to build a brand that communicates their unwavering commitment to creating a premium product that is ethically and sustainably sourced, while telling of their rich origin in a playful way.
Core Elements
Inspired by Mr Bean’s travels around the world, each product is a love letterabout the people and places he has discovered.
The idea of the love letter or travel postcard is continued with the logo - Mr Bean’s sign-off and personal guarantee. The range uses a rather unorthodox greyscale primary palette, allowing a bold set of secondary colours to clearly mark flavour and origin. The use of a contemporary typeface helps keep the brand feel premium and modern.
Illustration
An illustration series is designed to bring to life the Mr Bean character and hisadventures.
The greyscale colouring and texture treatment give the artwork a retro feel, while the doodle-style of the illustrations builds a distinct and playful aesthetic.
In today’s digitally-driven world, the Mr Bean artwork aims to capture audiences’ imagination, as if stepping into Mr Bean’s travel journal. The illustrations are designed to help tell a compelling story, spark emotions, and forge meaningful connections with customers.
Packaging
Full of loveable character, free from market-standard nasties.
Designed with zero plastic, the chocolate packaging is made from matte-finish paper and uses a plant based film which is certified fully home compostable.
Pops of vibrant colour are used to denote flavour, while a custom chocolate mould, featuring the logo, gives Mr Bean’s seal of approval on every piece of chocolate.
Product Development
Mr Bean continues his travels in search of the world’s best ground coffee toextend the brand’s world class range.
As his name suggests, Mr Bean’s commitment to quality isn’t just in regard to the cocoa bean. Chocolate and coffee are a heaven-made match. Sharing similar flavour descriptors (nutty, fruity, floral, berry-like etc.) make them natural partners. We explore the brand extension across touch-points.
Experience
Immersive event stands providea powerful dose of escapismthat puts the fun back into commercial marketing.
Whether a European newsstand kiosk or Mr Bean’s converted Camper, the pop-up designs play with a vintage travel aesthetic in an engaging and memorable way.
Customers can escape the bustle, enjoy the product and hook into the brand world. All the while, comfortable seating, integrated iPads, educational ‘postcards’ and custom signage with key call-outs, all ensure the experience remains targeted and commercial.
